He is widely recognised for his contribution to contemporary portrait painting in Australia.He was awarded the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize (2002) and has been a multiple finalist of the Archibald Prize (2008, 2009, 2021, 2022). His work was selected for the “Archie 100” exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
